Zinfandel, known for its deep purple hue, medium tannins, and high acidity, offers a "spicy" profile with dominant berry flavors ranging from strawberry to blackberry bramble, depending on ripeness. Originally from the imperial gardens at Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna, Zinfandel arrived in Boston in the 1820s and has thrived in California since the Gold Rush, becoming the state’s most widely planted grape.
